Tethered jailbreak
This isn't a very good option, though many people choose to jailbreak their phones this way whenever an untethered version isn't available. This jailbreak requires your iPhone to boot in a tethered mode each time you reboot it or switch it off, which means you will have to jailbreak your iOS device everytime you boot it.
Unfortunately you don't always have the option to do an untethered jailbreak, because it is much harder for developers to create the tools, so they usually first release tools that do tethered jailbreaks.
